Nestled on our historic grounds, the Oaklands Cottage has been transformed into a quaint, inspiring space dedicated to community learning and creativity. Ideal for intimate gatherings, this cozy venue hosts specialized workshops and hands-on classes for 10 to 12 participants. We are thrilled to announce that, thanks to a generous grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission, our upcoming season will feature an exclusive Table Braiding Workshop!

Join Tasneem for a relaxed, beginner-friendly session at the Oaklands Mansion Cottage where you’ll learn the fundamentals of watercolor in a simple, approachable way.
Watercolor block paper provided
Materials: please bring
– 24 color Water Color Set (Tasneem recommends Kuretake GANSAI TAMBI)
– Long Round Brushes, Sizes 0,2,4,6 (Tasneem recommends Princeton)
Thursday July 23rd

We will review simple, easy to learn principles for seaming that will ensure success in your projects!

Whether you own a general purpose machine ,serger or an embroidery machine, getting to know your sewing machine is a great way to create with confidence!
Bring your sewing machine; join us for an afternoon of information & fun!
Sunday July 26th

3 hrs. Limited to 12 students
Ages 10+ (under 18 must have adult)
The workshop follows a 3-hour narrative flow (Earth, Fire, Air, Water, and Ether) designed to transform raw material into a personal piece of art.
Participants will experiment with the torch to create their own glass pieces, culminating the process by integrating the participants creations onto a pre-crafted glass candle holder.
Fee includes all professional materials, equipment, personalized instruction, and a gourmet catering service during the integration break.

Admission: $100 per student, includes both workshop days.

Thanks to a generous grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission, we are offering a half price weekend workshop for 10 students to enjoy a behind-the-ropes tour of Oaklands Mansion, learn the basics of table braiding, and learn how to make a hair flower using the wire work method.
